FAQs

Commonly Asked Questions

Do you always have the same reclaimed materials in stock?

While it is extremely rare for us to have no reclaimed materials, it should be noted that reclaimed stone and brick are sourced from individual demolition and salvage projects, so stock changes regularly. Some materials may be available in substantial quantities, while rare bricks, stone profiles or decorative pieces may only be available in limited numbers. Customers planning a larger project should contact Authentic Stone early to discuss material availability, required quantities and any cutting or matching services that may be needed.

Can you cut or shape reclaimed stone and brick for my project?

Yes. Authentic Stone provides specialist stone and brick cutting, sawing, shaping and facing services. Our experienced stonemasons can modify reclaimed materials to suit specific dimensions, profiles or construction details, including replacement pieces and custom architectural elements. Careful cutting and preparation can help older materials integrate more accurately with an existing facade, wall, chimney or restoration project.

Can reclaimed bricks and stone be matched to my existing property?

Authentic Stone can help identify reclaimed materials that are visually and physically compatible with an existing wall, facade or architectural feature. Matching may consider the material type, colour, size, texture, surface finish, edge profile and degree of weathering. Because heritage materials can vary considerably between buildings and manufacturing periods, an exact match cannot always be guaranteed. Photographs, measurements and material samples can assist with the selection process.

Why use reclaimed stone or brick in a restoration project?

Reclaimed stone and brick can help new work blend more naturally with an existing heritage building. Older materials often have distinctive colours, textures, dimensions and weathering that are difficult to reproduce with modern products. They are particularly useful for facade restoration, chimney rebuilding, extensions, boundary walls and the replacement of damaged or missing masonry. Using carefully matched reclaimed materials can create a more authentic and visually consistent result.

What types of reclaimed stone and brick does Authentic Stone supply?

Authentic Stone sources a wide variety of reclaimed heritage stone and brick from demolition and restoration projects across South Australia. Stock may include sandstone, sandstock bricks, plinth bricks, glazed bricks, header bricks and capping bricks. Available stone finishes can include hen-pecked, pudding-face, rock-face, basket-range and flat stone. As reclaimed materials are sourced from existing buildings, sizes, colours, textures and quantities will vary over time.
