Authentic Stone specialises in full-facade heritage stone and masonry restoration for residential, and historically significant properties.
Our work is focused on the complete restoration of heritage stone, brick and masonry facades - not isolated patches or cosmetic repairs. We assess the building as a whole, identify the underlying causes of deterioration and undertake coordinated restoration works designed to protect the structure, appearance and material integrity of the property.
From lime mortar repointing and paint removal to stone cleaning and chimney reconstruction, each project is completed using methods appropriate for traditional masonry and the conditions found in South Australian heritage buildings.
Services
Heritage masonry performs as an interconnected system. Stone, brick, mortar, moisture movement, ventilation and drainage all influence the condition of a facade.
Repairing only a small visibly damaged area can leave surrounding deterioration untreated and often results in inconsistent mortar colour, joint profiles and finishes. In some cases, incompatible repairs can trap moisture within the wall and accelerate damage to the original stone or brickwork.
Authentic Stone takes a complete-facade approach. Our projects may involve several complementary restoration services, carefully sequenced to achieve a consistent and durable result across the entire building elevation.
This approach is particularly suited to:

What We Do
Specialist skills needed for full heritage and stone property restoration

Mortar joints are designed to protect masonry while allowing controlled moisture movement through the wall. Over time, traditional mortar can erode, crack, become loose or be replaced with modern cement-based products that are too hard for the surrounding stone or brick.

Many heritage stone and brick facades have been painted with coatings that conceal their original character and restrict the masonry’s ability to release moisture.

Heritage facades naturally accumulate atmospheric pollution, biological growth, dirt, staining and mineral deposits. Cleaning can substantially improve the appearance of a building, but the method must be carefully matched to the material.

Chimneys are among the most exposed and vulnerable masonry elements on a heritage building. Constant exposure to wind, rain and temperature changes can cause mortar erosion, cracking, loose masonry, failed capping and moisture penetration.
Learn more →Authentic Stone provides tailored salt damp treatment and restoration services, including damp-proof course installation, stone and brick undersetting, masonry replacement and repairs using carefully matched reclaimed materials.
Learn more →Authentic Stone sources, prepares and supplies a wide range of reclaimed stone and heritage, offering a path to efficiently repair, restore or extend older buildings while maintaining their original character.
